Please review the installation instructions below. We are recommending that installers use a drill stop when drilling the holes in step 7 of the attached install guide. It has been revised to include a note not to damage the outside of the tailgate. In the photos you will see that a simple drill stop can be made from a scrap of tubing. Slide the tubing over the drill bit and only expose 1 / 2” of the drill bit. The tubing will keep the drill bit from penetrating the tailgate cavity and making contact with the outside sheet metal and creating an inside out dent.

Tuffy has said they will continue to work with the Ford Engineering team on this issue. Right now this is what Tuffy is suggesting.
